Who we are

Albert is an environmental scientist, a mountain guide at the Alt Pirineu Natural Park and the founder of Salvatgines, a business based in Baix Pallars. This company was born from his desire to show people the incredible biodiversity of the flora and fauna in the area and has permission from the National Hunting Reserve of Boumort to organise activities in this protected space. And so Albert started to guide visitors on wildlife-watching excursions in Boumort. He has also specialised in environmental education and in 2018, he was recognised as a young entrepreneur from the Pallars Jussà region.

Gabi is passionate about climbing and the mountains. In 1993, he climbed up to Amitges, where he met the refuge keeper and soon started to work, discovering the world of cooking bit by bit. He later arrived in Cuberes, and in the summer of 1998, he and Anna left their old lives behind and began the journey to build their ideal family life. Over 20 years ago now, they converted an old, dilapidated forest house into the Cuberes Refuge: the only manned refuge in the protected area of Boumort (and one of the best places to see and hear the deer rutting season). He makes homely food with local products and innovative dishes that are often vegetarian.
